Sarah Wortham
Hi, I’m Sarah owner and myofunctional therapist at Eastern Shore Myo. My passion for myofunctional therapy is deeply rooted in my own personal journey, and it’s this experience that drives my dedication to helping others breathe better and live better. For years i was told that i was just a tired mom, or tired because i was busy. I kept asking Doctors and kept just being told it was normal to feel tired all the time.
A few years ago, I struggled with sleep apnea and was diagnosed with a tongue tie, both of which had a significant impact on my health and daily life. This led me to seek out effective solutions, and my journey through my own treatment sparked my interest in myofunctional therapy. I experienced firsthand how improving breathing patterns, tongue posture, and muscle function can lead to better sleep and overall health.
But it didn’t stop with me. As a mom, I watched my children go through their own challenges with orthodontics, speech therapy, and tongue ties. I wanted to help them avoid the struggles I faced, which further fueled my desire to dive deep into myofunctional therapy and share its benefits with others.
My Journey
I hold an Associate’s in Applied Science (Dental Assisting), a Dental Hygiene degree from UAB, and a Bachelor’s from Huntingdon College, but it was my dedication to myofunctional therapy that truly changed my career path. After completing the Sarah K. Hornsby Myofunctional Therapy Course and the Myo Munchee Course, I knew I had found my true calling. I continue to invest in my education for my patients and am currently enrolled in a course with Dr.Zaghi.
Through these courses and my personal experiences, I realized the power of myofunctional therapy in addressing underlying issues that impact breathing, sleep, and overall well-being. This motivated me to create Eastern Shore Myo, where I could help others—especially those dealing with similar struggles—improve their quality of life through therapy.
